Hollie Orr
Hollie won the first championship race after the 2020 COVID break, the British Middle Distance, in June 2021.
On The Red Line Hollie did not join the Squad for the 2020 season. The text below is from 2019.
I was born in Glasgow and with my family started orienteering at the age of 9 soon becoming a member of Clyde and the Scottish JuniorSquad. As a 14 year old I helped Scotland win the Junior Home International for the first time in 2002.
I went to Edinburgh University where I studied mechanical engineering and played an active role in the orienteering club, including captain in my final year. I then began work as an engineer, moving to Ulverston, and joining Lakeland OC. I worked for a number of years in Norway and joined Halden SK (Norway), and although now based back in Britain, I have remained a member and was in their winning Venla team in 2016.
I am now back in Ulverston working in Barrow and training with the local fell running club. I enjoy most outdoor pursuits, always keen for an adventure, it was the adventurous nature of orienteering which originally lured me to the sport. Away from orienteering I enjoy some more creative activities including art, cooking and design.
First appearance for GB at World Championships: 2010.
Best Results: 14th Sprint Relay, 7th Forest Relay, 26th Sprint, 21st Middle, 16th Long.
Clubs: Lakeland OC (North West OA) and Halden SK (Norway)
