The European Orienteering Championships for 2022 took place in Estonia and were for the forest disciplines. The medal races were the 4th, 6th and 7th August.

Eventor - Orienteering World Cup Round 2 and European Championships 2022

All races used the same arena, in the Põlula forest, near Rakvere, midway between Tallinn and the Russian border. For the previous European Championships, back pre-COVID in 2018 and covering more disciplines GB had a team of 17 including only one runner outside the 25-30 age group. Internationally, in 2020 almost none of the races that On The Red Line tend to follow took place, but in 2021 they almost all did.

Domestically, the British NIghts took place in early 2020, and then there weren't big events until the second half of 2021.

The outlook for 2022 is however promising, with full programmes internationally and domestically

The biennial European Orienteering Championships begin on Sunday 6th May with the sprint qualification and final, and finish the following Sunday with the classic forest races. They are in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, hosted by the Canton of Ticino.

There will be good coverage of the championships at LiveOrienteering. And there will be plenty of other sources of results and reports to also enjoy, or to rely on if you haven't the time (or money) for internet TV.
